As an astrologer, how do you know whether your actions are genuinely beneficial?

A system of ethical principles will help you answer that question and guide you when complex considerations arise. Whether you are a counseling astrologer, a researcher, a content producer, or an enthusiast, understanding ethics enables you to practice astrology responsibly.

The Ethics Awareness course is the cornerstone of CAPISAR’s certification program. Based on ISAR's Ethical Standards and Guidelines, it prepares you to practice astrology with a solid understanding of your ethical obligations and aligns our field’s standards with those of other professions.

  • Online coursework that gives a foundation in ethical principles and explores issues unique to astrologers.

  • A live Zoom training where you’ll apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios.

  • After successfully completing this training and the exam, you will have fulfilled one of the steps to becoming a CAP (Certified Astrological Professional).

The Three Components

  • Online Training Modules

    The online training modules help provide a foundation in ethics and the unique issues confronting our profession. You’ll also learn tools for self-examination and ethical inquiry. This three to five hour online module must be completed before the Live Q&A and Experiential Learning. After you register you’ll receive instructions on how to do this.

  • Live Q&A and Experiential Learning

    In this component of the training, you’ll work with the trainers and other participants to wrangle with ethical questions in real time. Your questions, a sense of humility, and healthy curiosity are all welcome! This must be completed before the Ethics Exam.

  • Ethics Exam

    Once you’ve completed the first two components, which are prerequisites, you’ll be ready to take CAPISAR’s Ethics Exam. This is final step to receive your certificate in ethics awareness from CAPISAR. It will be given immediately after the Experiential Learning.

  • I’ve been practicing astrology for years, do I really need this course?

    Yes! The ethical issues facing astrologers change frequently, just as the culture does. This course will help you stay on top of emerging topics in astrology.

  • I took an ethics course when I was in college (for my psychology license, as a social worker, etc.), isn’t this just a duplicate course?

    We strongly feel that you can never have too much training in ethics, especially when you work with others. The ethics of our profession are dynamic and continually changing. The course was written for astrologers by astrologers, so the content is tailored to explore the unique concerns and issues of our community.

  • Where do I take the live Zoom training? I don’t have a link.

    The link to the live Zoom training is built into the Online Training Module. After you register and log in to your CAPISAR account to complete the Online Training Module, you’ll see it. It will go live November 21, the day of the Live Q&A and Experiential Learning.

  • Where and when do I take the Ethics Exam?

    The CAPISAR Ethics Exam is proctored live using an online testing service and will be given immediately following the live training.

  • What is the format of the Ethics Exam?

    The CAPISAR Ethics Exam is made up of multiple choice and true/false questions. The exam requires you to consider professional questions and scenarios and to make a choice that you feel is ethical. There are roughly 65 questions and you have an hour to complete the exam.

  • What if I'm not available on the day of the Training & Exam?

    If you are unable to join the next upcoming live training and exam, we will allow you to join it at a later date.
